Future Sängerkranz online choir rehearsals also with Jamulus?

Last Wednesday, the Sängerkranz management board also dealt with the issue of how the current online choir rehearsals could be improved by using the "Jamulus" software. All singers were also informed in writing and asked for feedback (own hardware and software powerful?, as well as wired internet connection available?, own opinion on the "Jamulus project" advantages/disadvantages etc.).

What is Jamulus?

Jamulus is an open-source software with which you can make music online, e.g. with a band or choir. The software is free, runs on Windows, MacOS or Linux PCs / notebooks and works over a normal internet connection. Jamulus was developed for high sound quality with low latency (delay). This makes it possible to conduct online choir rehearsals almost in real time - everyone can hear everyone, the choir director gets feedback from all participating singers! This has also been recognised by the choir "Cantamus Gießen" with choir director Axel Pfeiffer, which has been conducting online rehearsals with Jamulus since 2020. Here we were able to get valuable information and experience on the use of the software and especially the necessary hardware. Many thanks to Axel Pfeiffer and Carsten Hoffmann for their kind support! Whether Jamulus will really be used at the Sängerkranz will become clear in the next few weeks, when the feedback from the singers has been evaluated and the managing board has an overview of the possibilities.
